The laboratory is poised to launch a series of diagnostic kits for human pathogens which include that for Mycobacterium tuberculosis, HIV, Human Cytomegalovirus, Human Papillomavirus to name a few. The tests will be primarily based on end point analysis using PCR while others on real time PCR analysis using SYBR Green or Taqman chemistry.

The laboratory currently provides human genetic tests such as those for predicting genetic predisposition for diabetes type 2. Other includes MECP2 gene analysis that is linked to Rett’s syndrome in humans.

It also provides service in molecular cloning, sequencing and gene expression study in humans ass well as other models as part of its contract research facility.

The laboratory undertakes research on identification of BT cotton seeds using advanced DNA based technology. Further, it specializes in production of industrial enzymes using established fermentation technology.

A key area where geneOmbio technologies specialize in providing advanced DNA based tests for the livestock industry. This include rapid diagnosis for congenital disorders, identifying genes related to high productivity, verifying parentage of calves born under Artificial Inseminations programme to name a few. It also undertakes long term research programme on genetic improvement of cattle and buffalo in the country. Other non conventional areas of expertise include, for example, biological control of round worms in cattle and buffalo using eco- friendly, non pathogenic fungi.
